What if Walker and his allies don't have much of an established past, because they aren't who they think they are, but the afterlife form of say, Nathan Drake and his pals, or Soap Mactavish and his dead buddies? Captain Walker (voiced by Nolan North), a soldier with a mysterious past has to go in and fix a situation using two allies and lots of bullets. It starts off like any other modern shooter.
But, with all the references and similarities to other games (including Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, Call of Duty, Battlefield and Gears of War), I wondered: What if Captain Walker is one of the main characters from one of those other games, but in hell? One theory is that the whole game after the intro is in purgatory, or that at least the final epilogue isn't real (though I think the game works well if all of it is real with some hallucinating on Walker's part). It is basically a critique of modern gaming trends, and a lot of people question how much of it was real. Spec Ops: The Line actually has a lot of different layers to the story, and a lot of meta stuff going on (with references to other franchises). Whether you want to promote your podcast, Youtube channel or blog, we do ask that you contact the mod team via mod mail before you post, but we are more likely to turn you down if it is not FanTheory related. Subjects that commonly fall under this rule include blockbuster series like Marvel and Star Wars, and theory ideas that caught on like "purgatory" theories. We ask for at least 2 paragraphs of writing about your theory and a specific citation from the work. Topics we receive a large number of submissions about will be subject to higher quality standards than other posts.

We also do not take too kindly to reposts or stolen content either, if you have copied and pasted a theory or article from elsewhere, you must make it abundantly clear that the idea belongs to someone else and give full credit. Low effort posts include submissions that are just a title, posts that are joke/meme related or those with no evidence in them. Whether it's the name of the movie, show or video game, please tell us what you're talking about by putting the name in the title.
